The forecast that changed the game for Tulare ID

At Fall ACWA 2023, Tulare Irrigation District General Manager Aaron Fukuda expected more of the same forecast information.

He didn’t expect a game-changer.

But that’s what he got.

Rob Doornbos of Weather Tools quietly laid out a humble, confident case for his long-range forecast model and its uncanny accuracy.

Fukuda didn’t hesitate.  He walked straight to the Weather Tools booth.

The conversation that followed kicked off a lasting partnership.

Tulare ID subscribed to Weather Tools’ California Annual Precipitation (CAP) forecast.  And when winter hit, they weren’t waiting.

By the time the B-120 was released, their water management plan was already in motion.

With trust built and results in hand, Fukuda approached Rob with a question he knew would be met with curiosity:

“What about inflow? Can you forecast that too?”

Weather Tools got to work.  The result?

CRAFT—the California Reservoir Annual Forecast Tool.

Now available for 18 reservoirs, it delivers accurate inflow forecasts with ample lead time and the kind of strategic edge that traditional updates can’t provide.

For Fukuda and his team, the value was clear: early guidance to make confident, proactive decisions.

No more waiting.  No more guessing.
